DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY
Department History:
The Department of Zoology housed in a separate black with a museum, lab and lecture hall attached to it. It is actively supported by directors, Dr. K. Ravinder Reddy M.Sc; Ph.D was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy for their thesis, “Behavior and Bio-chemical activities of Odoriferi glands of Insects” and Dr. B. Kumara Reddy M.Sc; Ph.D was awarded the Ph.D for his thesis on “Structure and Functions of soil arthropod community in T.grandies and D.melonoxilon forest ecosystem”. The department is and academically guided by Ex. Prof. Janaiah, Prof. T. Rajendranath and faculty of Dept of Zoology, K.U and five lecturers teaching full time.
The department has two labs and a museum with a rare collection of specimens and slides displayed attractively in glass showcases. The collection consists of imported specimens like Euplectella, Protopteres, Amia, Siren, Petromyzon, Ammoceutus Larva, Salamandra, Draco, Icthiophis, Acipenser besides those collected by the staff and students, fishes from the largest single group with about 150 specimens did identified to species level. Also it has a large number of beautifully framed charts showing the distribution of animals, Zoo-geographically. We have good laboratories for UG & PG and also, we have set up a chemical pathology lab with thirty medical microscopes, fifty sets of counting chambers and 50 sets of Haemocytometers and the required glass ware and chemicals.
VISSION
There are proposals to introduce new courses like Food and Nutrition, Parasitology, Seri-biotechnology. Our faculty planning for a minor research project including UG & PG students on “Impact of pollution on avian population in Warangal tri-cities - A study”.

Zoology is important to science and to the world, because it safe guards wild life and promotes conservatory and flourishing animals and helps creates a procedure for future generations.
New Science degree college has been playing a prominent role to educate students recognize different animal species which are fitting to survival of unsecure surroundings, study of mating habits, food procurement.
Our students are well educates in study the evolution of species particularly how animals have adapted to changes in their environment. There is a great deal of field research to conduct in the subject Zoology.
The subject Zoology gives a wide range of opportunities within the employment market for these skills whether within scientific industries or other area. It is a solid grounding for a variety of sciences such as marine, environmental, agriculture, wildlife and fisheries – all of which are vibrant industries in Ireland.
